Last Mile services are already established in hundreds of cities.
The next step is to install First Mile services and provide Cities with the increase in bicycle-use they need to meet their Climate Action targets.
First Mile/Security
The theft of millions of bicycles each year is evidence that the use of locks, chains and cables is not working and sheds, pods and cages are only usable in select locations.
To succeed, FIRST MILE services need to overcome BIKE THEFT, the greatest deterrent to bicycle-use. SMART-CITY MATRIX is applying a PATENT PENDING approach to bicycle security that eliminates the need for external locks, chains and cables.
Funding Solution
Removing subsidies and having both sectors become self-funding is essential.
In the Smart-City Matrix system, First Mile services shall be funded through moderate end-user fees and using the parking bays as a platform for providing a range of City Services.
Where First Mile and Last Mile are combined, First Mile services shall provide cost-savings and eliminate some of the operational issues of Last Mile systems.
Convenience / Approvals
The new system shall be installed everywhere people live, work and play, providing the security and convenience required to satisfy end-user demands.
Installation shall be in Private locations where City approvals are delayed.
